How to Progress in Your Career

Develop your personal skills

One of the biggest obstacles we notice that stops progression in careers is low confidence. Having low confidence can make you less likely to ask for promotion or raises.

Try pushing yourself to take reasonable risks. This might be asking for more responsibilities in your current role or setting individual goals to achieve. By doing this you will make yourself more visible to managers.

CPD

You really can’t develop in your career without putting some time and effort into your CPD (after all, the clue is in the name).

Continuing professional development shows your current (or potential) employers that you are constantly working to improve and are actively  taking steps to achieve this. Including this in a CV and application can also make you instantly stand out. There are various ways you can do this such as, charterships, training courses and awards.

Ask for feedback

This is a really simple tactic, but it works so well. Make it a habit to ask for feedback. Having another person’s opinion and advice can help you get a clear perspective on where you are succeeding, and more importantly, where you need to improve.
